Wow ... I can't believe I'm about to say this ...

Thank the goddesses for the Wrecking Crew.

No, I didn't have too much green beer, really. I didn't have ANY green beer as a matter of fact.

I have an Alien ...

I don't know which is worse - Aliens or Wrecking Crews. Oh wait, I *do* know which is worse.

And I'm pretty sure you know, too.

Because The Alien's power is still out, I offered to let them use my stove for dinner and the use of the bathtub to bathe the babies. That's the extent of what I'll offer as help. Period.

She knows that she's forever screwed her chances of moving back in here. I've told her that myself more than a few times.

Last night while they're here using my stove to cook their dinner - all the while being bitched at for wasting the day when they could have been resolving their electricity issues with her idiot father - the BF has the audacity to ask if they can spend the night here!

Absolutely freaking not!

They cooked dinner, hung around (didn't do their dishes either) and talked to me or Single Son until I had to kick them out because they were way too loud while Grandson was trying to fall asleep. Little boys need their sleep so they can learn important things in Kindergarten.

No sooner had they left and DIL says "Mom, we need to talk". Oh great ... I know that tone. She's pissed off.

I figured it was because they left after Grandson's bedtime. Boy was I wrong!!

"You know Alien asked me on the phone this morning when we're moving out so she, the BF and the babies can move in. I told her there's no way you'd allow that ... and she said 'well, she won't have a choice. She'll have to deal with it'. "

Deal with what?

It's sure not them moving in here, cause even if I had the room, that just ain't gonna happen. No sirree. Although having the excuse that there's no room with the Wrecking Crew here actually works to my advantage right now.

How sad is that?

It gives Alien time to get settled somewhere, anywhere ... and frees me the stress of having to fight over the whole matter. Now for her to get off her arse and start doing something besides making excuses for why she's not contacted her case worker or anyone else that can help for that matter.

I used to resent the fact that I'd soon be old enough for Senior Housing ... now I'm actually thinking four years is too long of a wait until I'm OLD enough to qualify.

  1. Oh Lisa....I'm so sorry......you put your heart and soul into raising your kids and even now, with two of her own, Alien doesn't get it. (And clearly her BF doesn't either - if he wants to play daddy he needs to man up and figure out how to pay their bills)

Senior housing doesn't sound half bad, lol - but I'm afraid your showdown will come well before you are old enough to more. Just hang in there. As you know, the tough times have lessons to teach us - so as difficult as it is to see your kids struggle - it really is best in the long term that they learn to take care of themselves.

  2. OMG. Well, I guess I won't pester you to buy our cabin then, because then they'd *all* stay with you. :)

Other than that....what Em said. And (((hug))).

  3. Em, you're right ... Alien just doesn't get it! I'm hoping that she finally grows up. And quick. She's bull-headed and stubborn as can be. She does not listen when she is seeking advice, often choosing to do the exact opposite of said advice. Even when she asks for advice!! It's like "why bother asking if you're going to do what you want (regardless of the outcome). She wants what she wants, and will do whatever she can to get it. Even if it's not practical. She's never wrong (riiiiight) ... you should see how I tricked her into admitting that I was right about the Loser (yes, I took advantage of my "I told you so" moment. LOL). She knows it all, everyone else are idiots.

I could go on and on.

I love her to death, she IS my daughter, those babies are my grands and I would die for them ... but I'll be damned if I'm going to let her walk all over me and manipulate me. I didn't raise her to act this way ...

As far as the BF goes ... I don't know he ever had a father figure to model himself after (long story) ... and he's certainly burning bridges with what family he does have by being just as bull-headed and stubborn.

He needs to find a job to support "his" family. She needs to not call him at work every half hour because of her Momma Drama.

Amy ... I would LOVE to buy your cabin!! I don't need to tell anyone where I'm going! A post office box so they could send Christmas and Mother's Day cards (far away, I can have the post office forward it to wherever I choose) ... a cell phone with a carrier based out of the area code I presently have would throw them further off the track as to my location. :D

  4. I love that idea - run off and don't tell them where :). But I think that Alien would make everyone else's life miserable insisting that they go find you.

As for her growing up - I kinda hoped she was getting there when she had that scare about losing custody and had to clean up the house. But it sounds like she may need to hit bottom before she figures it all out. I know you'd do anything for her and the grandbabies.......and right now it sounds like you are doing what's best for them by letting her fact a bit of reality. Since social services is involved, I doubt that they'll end up on the street - but a bit of time in s place where she is exposed to other young mothers who are taking responsibility for themeselves and their families would do her a world of good.

I have trouble imagining someone whose power has been cut off not looking for some way to get it turned back on rather than just waiting until her dad gets around to paying again.....cause I know she didn't get this "entitlement" mindset from her mother.

But it will work itself out......just sucks to have to be patient in the meantime.

  5. My ex father in law, Papa, gave in and paid the $600 overdue electric bill. The power will be turned on before 10 PM this evening.

Alien is in a few different programs, from different state agencies ... all centered on training young unwed parents in the art of parenting. I'm liking the results I'm seeing so far - the house is cleaner, there's food in the fridge, the children in clean clothes (and bathed). But there's still so much she needs to do - growing up being the biggest.

They're on the "relocation" list for new housing because 1) the structural condition of that house is not one that is desirable or safe for little ones, and 2) Loser has proven to be violent and has made threats against her once he's out of jail (he's already be caught slashing tires, breaking into the house, and since his incarceration is having his new gf vandalize Alien's house). They (the system) has until September to get her relocated before his release.

She sure knows how to pick 'em. ::rolls eyes::

As far as Alien bugging everyone as to my where-abouts should I go MIA ... they'd tell her "Nonya" as in none of your business. I'd tell Single Son, but only because I know I could trust him to keep my secret - he's one of those who lives by the "need to know" creed. Besides, with GPS being on most cell phones anymore, I wouldn't be too hard to track down if the person looking for me uses modern day common technology. And I can't live without my modern day technology so don't suggest I sacrifice them in the name of hiding out. LOL! ;)
