Sal's very active in the Starfleet I've blogged previously about. Anyway, since meeting him I've become obscessed with finding all the movies he's even had a bit part in.

Ten Thoughts Tuesday

Ten Thoughts ...

1) I'm pretty fed up with Yahooey 360. Seems like they have no pride in their product anymore. Granted, I realize they're transitioning over to a whole new program, but geesh ... they could at least maintain what they've got now. Or is it their intentions to piss everyone off? I highly doubt that, but come on ... nothing's working on 360 anymore. Not worth the hassles to me. Yeah, I'll stick around until the end. Curiosity has the best of me, I want to see what this new Yahoo! will be before I pass final judgement. In the meantime, those of you who are on both 360 and Multiply get to put up with my posting blogs on both sites.

2) Candy corn! Got a refill on my candy corn. I'm all set now.

3) We've hit the halfway mark this quarter at Baker College. Five weeks down, five to go. Two of my classes are five week courses. The one, "Windows XP" just ended last week. My final grade in that class was 94%. Yeah, only 94%!! You'd think in a class so easy I'd have pulled a perfect 100%. Nope, not a chance.

4) I'm such a geek!! We started the new computer class yesterday. "WWW and the Internet". While the teacher was lecturing I did all the homework assignments she'd posted on the board - without reading the textbook. Then again, the subject matter is super easy for me! I even completed Chapter One test while she lectured. I scored 100% on the test and all of the homework. During the hands on part of the class, when the rest of the class was doing the work, I was helping those on my side of the room who were having problems. After class she approached me and asked if I'd consider being her aide for the class. Seems there's quite a few in the class that are going to need help. She can't possibly do it alone. So, while she lectures I'll do the week's assignments so that I can be free to help where it's needed. Yes, I get extra credit points for helping. LOL.

5) Trick or Treating is this week. I'm doubting I'll get many (if any) kids. I just realized they don't come to houses where the lights aren't on ... and I don't have a porch light right now. The one my landlady chose was too heavy for the vinyl siding to support and had to be removed before it did damage to the new siding job. I have no porch light. This could pose a trick or treating dilemma for sure!!

6) I don't bounce as well as I used to. Not that I wanted to find out, really. They're called accidents for a reason!! Monday morning on the way out the door for classes, I fell down the stairs. When I landed at the bottom my right leg was tucked neatly underneath me. My left elbow throbbed and my neck felt like it was on fire. I went to school anyway. Long story made real short here ... Bruised my shin and elbow, pulled the muscles in my shin, my neck hurts. Needless to say I still hurt like hell. I hate that next day pain. I swear it's worse!

7) I have a bunch of homework, as usual. I have to have it all done by the weekend, though.

8) We're finally cartooning animals in my drawing class! That should be fun!! We have to pick five to cartoon. I'm having trouble choosing only five!! And get this, not a squirrel to be found in the textbook. You know I'm gonna go find a picture of a squirrel that I can easily turn into a cartoon!!

Yup, numbers 9 and 10 ... once again having trouble coming up with these last two. What gives? Geesh!

Oh oh oh ... this just in ...

9) YIPPEE!!! I just found out a few minutes ago that Alien finally broke up with that verbally abusive manipulative moron. I'm a happy camper!! I was telling her all I wanted for my birthday was for her to be happy and be free of him. Looks like I got an early birthday gift, eh?

10) I have been watching some pretty cheesy horror movies lately. Gotta love those B movies. One was so bad that my DVD player refused to play it after the first half hour. Now that's bad when the DVD player goes on strike! I have a whole list of cheesy horror films I'm trying to locate. Great, just what I need - another addiction! LOL!

My Ghost Stories

This sort of goes with the Friday Five questions. Especially question number two which asked about supernatural or unexplained events in my life ...

These are but a few of my experiences ...

"Irene"
I was married to the first husband, the year was 1981. My oldest, Single Son was just a year old when we moved in. The house was a 50+ year old cottage on a lake. An architectural nightmare with it's many additions. The floors weren't level, there were gaps in the dining room wall that you could see light shining from the basement, the built in bookcase in the living room was uneven - putting a pencil on a shelf it would roll away, the stairs to the walk-out basement had a drop in the ceiling that if you didn't duck you would end up with a healthy goose-egg from the impact of the solid wall. These were but a few of the oddities of the house.

In the far end of basement there was a root cellar, too. Part of the original structure, I'm guessing. On the shelves I'd found some personal items from the previous owner. A baby book, a box of baby items labeled "JIMMY". I went through the box, nothing indicating a last name. I moved the box to a safer spot and put up some of our stuff into this perfect storage area. I never did remember to ask the landlord about it. See if we could find this Jimmy. Return his stuff to him.

The last box hadn't been unpacked and odd things started to happen. Single Son was an early walker (9 months old) and by the time we'd moved in to the house he was into everything. We had one pantry in the kitchen, it was rather hard for me to open this door (it sat on the hinges crooked) there was no way my son was going to be able to open it so I felt safe putting the cleaners on the bottom shelf of the pantry. My reasoning was that chemicals could drip down into the foodstuffs on the shelves below. A few days later, needing something out of the pantry, I discover the cleaners are on the TOP shelf!! I hadn't moved them. I doubted hubby had either, he was a macho male - felt that the kitchen was not his place. It was mine. But I asked him that night when he got home from work. Nope, why would he touch them, he asked. So I spend the evening putting it back to the way I had it.

I had also noticed that the dish cupboard wasn't the way I had left it. The dishes and cups weren't on the shelves I'd left them on. They'd been switched, dishes where the cups had been, cups occupying where the dishes were.

My laundry room was in the basement. The walk-out part of the basement was really a one car garage. I'd open the door in the summer to get the breeze from the lake while doing our laundry. After I was done, I'd lock up the garage, making sure the lights were off and the doors closed tightly. Hubby was a stickler on not having lights on if we weren't using them.

I never had curtains on the small bedroom windows. I learned to walk to the bathroom in the back of the house in the dark at night. On one such midnight potty trip I happened to see a light shining through a crack between the flooring and the dining room wall. Oh oh!! Better go turn that off before Hubby sees it. I get to the basement, there's NO lights on!! I shrug. Maybe it was a reflection from something? There was nothing in the basement that would have caused a reflection.

Talking to the neighbor one day I mentioned the box I'd found and did he know if I could find the previous owner or this Jimmy. He told me that Irene, the widow owner had suffered a heart attack tending to the side yard gardens. Judging by the bloody knees, she'd apparently crawled into the bedroom and died almost as soon as she'd crawled into her bed. One of her kids found her a few days later. This neighbor also told me that Jimmy hadn't been seen in years, he and Irene had a falling out, and he pretty much vanished from her life after that.

Then the neighbor got a funny look on his face. "Ummm, do you ever see strange things happen around there?" I told him only all the time. I explained about the cleaners. He about fainted! "One of Irene's children almost died ingesting some chemical. She was extremely cautious after that, even after the kids all grew up".

I gave in to the chemical fight. One winter's day after shopping, putting a few things in the pantry, I stopped and said out loud "Irene, thank you for watching out for my son". I felt a breeze cut through me. "But will you compromise with me on the dishes, please?? I prefer the cups on the bottom shelf." She never disturbed them after that.

Irene would pull other little pranks, though. She never let up on the basement lights. I gave up running to tum them off. I knew by the time I got downstairs she'd have turned them off.

Every time Irene did something I'd say "Dammit Irene" out loud. But I'd laugh as I said it. I don't think I was every really angry with her antics. I know I wasn't afraid. She was definitely a friendly ghost.

One stormy night I couldn't get the window in the baby's room closed. It was a tiny room, six by six feet. No matter how I arranged it, the crib was under that window!! The rain was coming in through the unclosable window. So, I brought the baby in to sleep in my bed. Hubby wasn't happy about it. During the night, we heard a crash. The winds had blown a dead branch off of a tree. It hit son's bedroom window in such a way that it shattered the window. Running in to investigate the noise, I stopped and said "Thank you, Irene". Hubby, standing behind me was like "who?" He never believed me about Irene!

At some point, a scary looking dude came knocking on my door. LOL. I normally wouldn't have answered it since hubby was at work. Why I did that day I don't know but I'm sure Irene was behind it. "Hi, I'm looking for Irene. I'm her son Jimmy. Do you know where my mother moved?" My gawd, I had to tell him. "Jimmy, I'm sorry. You're mother had a heart attack and passed away." I did invite him in (against my better judgment). He was a pleasant man. But a very sad man, very sad life. I gave him the box of baby things his mother had saved.

We lived together, Irene and I, for two and a half years. My youngest son, Married Son, was born while we lived there. She'd keep a watchful eye on him, too. I respected her wishes, after all this had been the home she and her husband had built for her family. I never felt scared or threatened by Irene.

A few weeks before we were to move to our first purchased home we had a power failure. Typical for that area really. As I was getting up to light the storm candles, I saw a figure cloaked in white standing in the arch between the dining room and kitchen. I paused, this was the first time that Irene had allowed me to see her. I thanked her for allowing us to live in her home and that I would miss her once we moved to the newly constructed house. I felt that breezy feeling once again.

That was the last encounter I was to have with Irene. I honestly can say I do miss her, to this day, twenty five years later.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"My Brother"
My brother, Richard (aka Dick) died in 1993 at the age of 25. He was a suicide. We'd moved into this house a year after my brother's death. My daughter "Alien" was two and a half (she's now 16). Alien was one of those clingy children, rarely leaving my side. I was in cleaning bedrooms one day while she was in her bedroom playing when I heard her talking to someone. Knowing we were alone in the house I went to check on her. I stood at the doorway for a while just watching. She was looking up, as if to look an adult in the eye while talking. It was a full conversation, but I only heard her half of it. Deciding she had an invisible friend I went back to cleaning. Over the next few months I began to notice she was spending more and more time in her room playing, and less clinging time. One afternoon shortly after her third birthday she'd been in her room for a longer than usual time. I went to check on her and decided to join in the "conversation" she was having with her invisible friend. "Honey, who you talking to?" I asked. "Uncle Dickie, Momma". Now, I should probably tell you here that Dick's death was devastating to the family. I was an emotional basket case for years. I rarely mentioned his name around the kids, mostly to spare them from seeing me break down again. So ... I repeated "Uncle Dick?" "Yes, Mommy. He was just telling me about the dog you had when you were little". "Oh?" "Yep, her name was Terry. She loved puddles". OMG! "Mommy, Uncle Dick says that he loves you. He wishes you could see him right now". I absolutely lost it!! "Tell your Uncle Dick I love him and miss him honey". "Gee, Mommy. He's dead, not deaf. He hears you. He says you're such a gaywad". Gaywad was what he'd call someone instead of saying dork or moron. I hadn't even thought of the word since his passing, and now she's saying it!! She continued her visits with Uncle Dick until she started kindergarten. Only years later did she tell me the content of the majority of those conversations. Some of them were about growing up, but most of them were story times, where he'd read Dr. Seuss stories to her. He loved Dr. Seuss.
Richard's presence is still felt to this day. Many times when I'm feeling depressed or if there's some emergency going on. And not just by me, but by my children, too.
In 2000 my son was in a near-fatal car accident. The car he was driving had been my brothers car. I inherited it after his death. "Single Son" had been driving it that day. The light he was at had just turned green. He looked left, then right, and proceeded through the light. A fully loaded two ton cargo van came out of nowhere and "T-Boned" him ... running right into the driver's side of the car. Right before impact he said he'd seen his Uncle Dick in the back seat of the car. A split second later the van crashed into him. He managed to move to the passenger seat - with a pelvis that had been broken in three places and a ruptured spleen. His uncle had encouraged him to move to a more accessible spot for the EMTs to tend to him on scene (saving valuable time since the jaws-of-life didn't need to be used on that side of the car). Uncle Dick stayed with him until he was in the Emergency Room. My son survived the accident, making a full recovery. He definitely had a Guardian Angel that day.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

"Debbie"
While not an actual "ghost story" this is about how our loved ones really don't leave us after they've passed on.

In 1978 three of my friends were tragically killed in a car accident, two months after we graduated from high school. I was especially close to one of them, Debbie. We'd known each other since seventh grade. Sadly through the years since graduation and her death I'd lost track of all my old high school buddies. In August of this year, almost twenty nine years to the date of her death I received an email from one of the guys we were friends with. We emailed each other for a while, finally deciding to meet for a drink or two and discuss old times. The conversation turned to classmates who'd passed on. He looked at me with a strange look. "You and Debbie were close weren't you? I ask because on the way over here I realized that you knew her, too. You're going to think I'm losing my mind, but I think she brought us together for this reunion". We went on to talk about things that had happened to him over the years, things he's positive Debbie had a hand in. Behavior that isn't typical of him, nothing bad, just strange things that he'd do, not really knowing what motivated him to do it. Locating me being one of them. Since then our friendship has really grown. It's almost like we never lost contact, let alone for nearly three decades.

Friday Five

Happy Halloween and welcome to this week's FRIDAY FIVE: SPOOKY
This week's questions were provided by Jacqui

Ponder the phenomena of the supernatural and Halloween memories:

1) Do you believe in ghosts/spirits and if so why? Or why not.
I do. I always have. Why? Well, I really don't know why. I just do.

2) Have you ever had what you would consider a supernatural encounter or unexplained event in your life? What was it?
I've had a few experiences. I've lived in a house that was haunted by the previous owner. Luckily she was a "nice ghost". My deceased brother often has a protective hand in not only my life, but that of my children. A deceased friend has guided a long lost friend back into my life.

3) Do you believe in ESP? Do you have it?
I wouldn't exactly call it ESP, but I am able to sense when something's wrong with my children. It's eerie at times.

4) When trick or treating as a child what was the scariest thing that ever happened?
I grew up in the 60s and 70s when the world wasn't so crazy. I really don't remember anything that was really scary. Although I do vaguely remember screaming and running when the guy on a front porch was playing "scarecrow" and jumped off the chair just after we got our treats.

5) What is your most memorable Halloween as a kid or adult?
The one I remember best was when I was old enough to take my little brother out without supervision from our folks. He was two or three, I was ten or eleven. I think it's a fond memory mostly in hindsight, as he died suddenly and tragically at the age of 25.

AMV Cars (Rascal Flatts) Life Is a Highway

Life Is a Highway - Rascal Flatts

Life's like a road that you travel on
there's one day here and the next day gone
Sometimes you bend, sometimes you stand
Sometimes you turn your back to the wind

There's a world outside every darkened door
Where blues won't haunt you anymore
Where the brave are free and lovers soar
Come ride with me to the distant shore

We won't hesitate
To break down the garden gate
There's not much time left today

{Chorus:}
Life is a highway
I wanna ride it all night long
If you're going my way
I wanna drive it all night long

Through all these cities and all these towns
It's in my blood and it's all around
I love you now like I loved you then
This is the road and these are the hands
From Mozambique to those Memphis nights
The Khyber Pass to Vancouver's lights

Knock me down, and back up again
You're in my blood
I'm not a lonely man

There's no load I can't hold
Road so rough, this I know
I'll be there when the light comes in
Just tell 'em we're survivors

{Chorus:}
Life is a highway
I wanna ride it all night long
If you're going my way
I wanna drive it all night long (all night long)

(Gimme, gimme, gimme, gimme, yeah!)

{Chorus:}
Life is a highway
I wanna ride it all night long(all night long)

If you're going my way
I wanna drive it all night long(all night long

There was a distance between you and I(between you and I)
A misunderstanding once
But now we look it in the eye
Ooooohh
Mmmm yea!

There ain't no load that I can't hold
A road so rough, this I know
I'll be there when the light comes in
Tell 'em we're survivors

{Chorus:}
Life is a highway
I wanna ride it all night long
If you're goin' my way
I wanna drive it all night long

(Gimme, gimme, gimme
Gimme, gimme, yeah!)

{Chorus:}
Life is a highway
I wanna ride it all night long
if You're going my way
I wanna drive it all night long

(C'mon!
Ah gimme, gimme, gimme, gimme, gimme, gimme, yeah!)
yea i'm gonna ride it all night long baby
If you're goin' my way
I wanna drive it all night long

First Entry ...

This is my first entry on Multiply. Bear with me ya'll. I have NO idea what I'm doing yet.

My Drawings

Just some of the stuff I've drawn in class lately.

Said I wasn't gonna do it ...

I said I was going to weather the storm. Stick it out until Yahoo! gets their shi* together.

For two days I've been frustrated beyond belief trying to post comments, quick comments and even a blog entry.

So, guess I join the multitudes who are headed over to Multiply ... see what that's all about.

I'll still be around 360, but may as well try Multiply on for size, too.

Anyone else on Multiply, feel free to add me as a friend. I don't wanna lose ya'll, ya know?

Friday Five

What a perfect time to address the "SCARY" side of life with Halloween coming up next week!

This week's theme was provided by Kat . . .

1. What creature scares you the most? (Real or imagined - people are creatures too)
Zombies.

2. Your favorite scary movie of all time . . .
I love the old "B" horror films - the low budget productions. They're the best.

3. The scariest moment in your life . . .
Easy question ... May 5, 2006 ... 6 AM ... when Single Son's ex-girlfriend showed up at the house and tried to kill him. I watched the whole thing, while talking to 911 on the phone.

4. The scariest place you have ever been . . .
There used to be an old abandoned mental hospital just down the street from me - Pontiac State Mental Hospital (PSH) for my local friends. Local lore tells of many hauntings at the site. One popular tale says that as the "Pontiac Mall" was being built across the street from PSH in the early 1960's the construction workers could often hear a woman screaming. It's believed that the screaming came from PSH, from an old tower that was often used to lock up some of the most dangerous mental patients.

One chillly fall night Single Son decided we were going for a drive, but didn't tell me where we were going. We went straight into PSH, just to see the abandoned buildings up close and personal! Scared the bejesus outta me! They've since torn the complex down and built luxury condos on the site. I often wonder if the residents of the condos experience any hauntings ...

5. What scares you?
Where this world is headed - crime, terrorism, ecology, respect, tolerance ... and so on ...

If you would like to participate:
Copy the questions and post your answers to your blog,
Leave a comment on The Friday Five page for that week to let others know your post is up so they can visit your blog.
Fun, easy, and no time limit.

Let's Play !!

Random Thoughts ...

Thursday Ramblings ...

1) Anyone living in Northern Oakland County (MI) beware - my Alien starts driver's education in two weeks. She actually knows how to drive a car, driver's ed is just a formality so she can get her license finally - all nice and legal like. Nice thing about having much older sons, I didn't have to risk life or limb teaching her to drive!

2) I just love classmates.com! Brought my friend Tiger back into my life. Now I've found an old friend who moved away when we were in middle school. She's definitely been on the top of that "whatever happened to?" list!! I wrote her an email yesterday. Hoping to hear from her soon.

3) Speaking of Tiger, lol. We're planning on another get together soon. Not sure where or when yet, as we're trying to compile a list of our old friends we'd like to include in a reunion of sorts.

4) Married Son didn't start that local hauling job after all. A chance encounter with a former coworker of mine who now owns his own *cartage* (hauling) company, and Married Son will now be working for him. This is another long haul job, but "Taz", the owner, is one of those guys who believes in families and family time (unlike the old trucking company!). He'll be home alternating weekends, all holidays, and any special family occasion. The pay is the same as the old company was, but Married Son will no longer have operating expenses that he had with leasing his own vehicle.

5) For years now Alien has been pestering me to get her nose pierced. I kept telling her to think about it, and *if* she really still wanted it, we'd go on her 16th birthday and get her nose pierced. Monday (Oct. 15) was her 16th birthday. After school today we went to the tatttoo parlor where she got her nose pierced!! She was a real trooper, too. She barely cringed!! I've wanted to get my nose pierced since high school ... maybe now I will. Hmmmmmm ...

6) Married Son, DIL and Grandson went with us to get Alien's nose pierced. They didn't want to miss the fun, lol. Before we left DIL was checking out some of my cartoons. She came up with a great idea! A coloring book for Grandson, all with Grandma's cartoons. I think it's a great idea!! I've decided that after cartooning class is over, I'll keep up with a few drawings a week. If nothing else, Grandson will have a hell of a special coloring book.

7) Still working on my midterms. I really need to find a couple of hours where I can concentrate on cleaning the house this weekend. What a study break, eh? Put down the books for a scrub bucket and rags. Fun. Oh well, it's gotta be done again. And something always makes it easier to study in a clean environment.

Ten Thoughts Tuesday

Ten Thoughts Tuesday ...

1) Do I have ten thoughts? I doubt it but let's see how far this goes ...

2) Mid-terms already!! I almost forgot about a research project that I have for mid-terms! Oy!! I've got one week to come up with a five minute speech - with visual aids - on one profession that uses graphic communications (computer graphics). We know what I'm doing this week, LOL.

3) On top of that I have the standard five cartoons to draw. Inanimate objects is this weeks theme. I don't like making inanimate objects come to life, lol. I'd rather cartoon people, that's for sure

4) Speaking of cartoons, I have some faces I did the first week of cartooning class. I'm thinking of adding bodies to them, they'd be great Star Trek characters.

5) Guess we're in for some pretty rainy weather today. Gotta love fall and it's crazy weather.

6) I didn't sleep well last night (nothing new!). Seriously thinking of going back to bed for a few hours. Oh, and with the weather, a thunderstorm would make for a perfect sleep the morning away day.

7) What's up with Flickr? I can't add it to my blog, and heaven knows I've been trying!! The photos I have are public but when I go to add the Flickr stream I get the same message - "you don't have any public photos". Gotta be on Flickr's end, 'cause I doubt it's anything I'm doing!! Geesh!

8) Why is it I always get stuck on numbers nine and ten? This isn't eight thoughts Tuesday, it's ten thoughts. And I get stuck every time!! Could my life have become that dull that I can't think of ten things??

9) Dull beats exciting. Chaotic. Nuts. Whatever you want to call it. I like that things have settled down, that it's not one thing after the other. It's boring around here these days and I'm loving it!! Of course, it makes for some pretty dull blogs. Can't have my cake and eat it, too, can I? LOL!!

10) That's all folks ... no number ten. Grrrrrrr ...

Turn Around ...

I can't believe it's been 16 years already. Sixteen years ... where does the time go?

Seems like just yesterday I was bringing my third baby home from the hospital. The third. Last of a "limited series". My only girl. My princess. No longer a baby. Not a child, either. Soon she'll be a woman.

When I was born my dad loved the song "Turn Around" by Harry Belafonte. It's become a tradition to give a copy of this song to those who have been blessed with the birth of a daughter. It still tugs at my heart to hear it. And as my baby grows up it's even more special to me.

My baby, ever closer to being a woman.

"Turn Around"
By Harry Belafonte

Where are you going my little one, little one
Where are you going my baby my own
Turn around and you're two, turn around and you're four
Turn around and you're a young girl going out of the door
Turn around (turn around)
Turn around (turn around)
Turn around and you're a young girl
goin' out of the door

Where are you going my little one, little one
Dirndls and petticoats, where have you gone
Turn around and you're tiny, turn around and you're grown
Turn around and you're a young wife with babes of your own

Turn around and you're a young girl going out of the door
Turn around and you're a young wife with babes of your own

Where are you going my little one, little one
Where are you going my baby my own
Turn around and you're two, turn around and you're four
Turn around and you're a young girl going out of my door

I love you, Boo!!

Saturday Ramblings ...

1) Two days until Alien's 16th birthday! I am not taking this as well as I thought I would. I mean, my baby has grown up. She's always been mature for her age and always been very independent. So why is this suddenly bothering me that she's grown up?

I'm the one who's wanted an empty nest. I joke half the reason I want to move out of state is to get that empty nest - they won't move away from home so I have to move away from them if I want the nest empty. Motherhood, what can I say? Such an emotional roller coaster. Geesh.

2) I noticed the other day I don't cartoon females much. There's a reason for it - men are easier to draw. It's difficult to draw features so they appear softer, more feminine. And boobs, man, those are the worst to draw! Normally it takes only about fifteen minutes to "rough" in a character, another ten or so to do the detail sketching, five minutes to do the line definitions (going over the drawing with magic markers). 45 minutes tops to draw a cartoon from start to finish. Yet, I've worked on one lady drawing for two days now, I can't get her boobs to look right. I'm about ready to give up! *itch is gonna end up flat-chested yet, I swear.

3) I called my Mom last night to thank her again for the gift card, and to tell her about the camera. Ended up they were gone so I left a message. She returned my call today. We talked for a few, I told her how geeked I am about the new camera and how it'll come in handy for the Graphic Communications Club (and so much more).

Then she tells me why she didn't answer the phone last night when I called. She was in the ER giving moral support to her sister, my Aunt Silly. Her hubby, Uncle W. was hit by a car yesterday coming out of the dry cleaners. No one's really sure what happened. He left the building, went to cross the parking lot, and next thing he knows he's laying on the ground in pain. He'll be okay, lots of bumps and bruises. He's an elderly gent, got a pace-maker, I guess they were worried about the trauma of being hit more than anything else.

4) Married Son is home to stay! He starts his new job on Monday, doing local hauling. It's weird, for as bad as Michigan's economy is there's an actual shortage of truck drivers - both local and long-haul. Ten thousand drivers short, to be exact, according to industry publications. He'll never hurt for a job, that's for sure. He's decided to stay local for family reasons.

5) It's a beautiful sunny and cool day today!! I want to be outside, playing with my new camera. But no ... too much homework! It's progressing well, except for that one drawing that's frustrating me.

After that, I really really need to tackle tidying the living areas of the house. They're not too bad, but they could use attention.

6) I'm procrastinating, can you tell?? Okay ... here I go ... back to the drawing board, literally. Ya'll have a great weekend!!

Three ...

Two ...

One ...

So it's now two hours since I blogged the above. I ended up giving up worrying about certain details on the cartoon from Hades (booby lady, LOL) ... see my "My Drawings" album, cartoon number 15.

New Beginnings ...

So why the massive blog cleaning? I thought it was time for a fresh start.

When I first started this MIMom blog on 360 it was with the intentions to privately blog about the ups and downs of living with two often odd adult children, a psycho ex girlfriend (Single Son's then gf), a daughter in law, a newborn grandson, and a teenager who had her mind taken over by Aliens (all under ONE roof!) and just my crazy life in general.

And things change. People change. I've changed.

My primary complaint and his wife have long moved out - in fact, I really can't classify him as a complaint anymore, LOL. The psycho ex is thankfully nothing but a not-so fond memory. The teenager is slowly becoming herself again, no longer completely possessed by an Alien.

I don't have the chaos and confusion I had when I began this blog. I've made new friends and lost friends, too. I've replaced the poisons in my life with positives. Life is good.

I'm no longer that person who started this blog a year and a half ago. I've grown in so many ways. It was time for me to let go of that part of my life, and start with a clean slate.

Friday Five ...

Too funny. Here I go and delete my entire blog (all 883 entries) to start fresh, and today's Friday Five is about the past! I figure it's a great start though. This way I'll never entirely forget where I was ... and ya'll can see exactly how far I've come.

So without further adieu ...

A bit of a Different Friday Five:

What was going on in your life ....

1) 25 years ago: 1982 - I was about to give birth to my second son (Nov. 23). Financially times were good, but I was miserable in the marriage. Young (22), naive and scared, I would find excuses to stay and would justify the horrible treatment I received by the husband.

2) 20 years ago: 1987 - Financially this was the best period of my adult life, but I finally came to my senses knowing that financial security wasn't worth the abuse I received, and I realized that I didn't deserve the way husband treated me. I finally knew the marriage was over, but wouldn't file for divorce until 1988.

3) 15 years ago: 1992 - Remarried and mother to a newborn baby girl. We owned a booth at the weekend flea market and were doing pretty good. Life wasn't too bad. ;)

4) 10 years ago: 1997 - Husband #2 won trip to the Bahamas on a radio call-in contest. I realized during the trip just how incompatible we really were. Marriage failing but I felt I had to stay in it for insurance reasons. At least until I had the needed treatments and was healthy again. Depression set in bad.

5) 5 years ago: 2002 - Finally granted Divorce #2 after a year and a half of battling it out in court. Weighed the most I ever have because of the years of depression. Started a job that would last three years until I was laid off.

bonus: 1 year ago - 2006 - Life has improved in leaps and bounds, although financially it's to be the lowest point of my life. I was accepted at a local college - determined to stick with it and finally get that degree I'd put off for almost three decades. Although I had (have) health problems and no insurance or job, my general outlook about life has vastly improved over the decades.

Have Fun and Let's PLAY !!
