Good grief, time flies when you're sick. I had a few things I wanted to blog, I wonder if I can remember them?
I've been sick for about a week now. Cooties from a 5 year old are ten times as mean to a woman ten times his age, I've found!! Then again, he's still not 100% from his cootie-fest, so I guess I shouldn't expect to be feeling normal either.
Normal. That's funny. Me, normal? Not in this lifetime. Nor are my children.
I had asked Single Son if he had any decongestants hiding in his room. He shrugged. I asked him if he could look ... he shrugged. I asked him if he'd run to the store to get me some. He shrugged. And finally I asked if he wanted me to die from this hacking ... he shrugged.
Can't you just feel the love? Actually, that's his warped sense of humor showing.
DIL saved the day, sort of. "Mom, I have some decongestants at work in my locker". Doesn't do me a darn bit of good being the store is locked tight until tomorrow. But, she did remember to bring 'em to me the next day. I've been able to breath pretty much ever since.
I know, I know ... why didn't I take drugs sooner? Well, I don't LIKE to take drugs. Not even over the counter remedies. But after a week of the rattling chest, coughing, and major headaches from all the hacking I decided it was time to stop being so stubborn.
I can breathe!

I didn't babysit Butterball today because of my cooties. Which means I also didn't get to see the Bubba elopement announcement letter. Drats. I'm dying to see it. Ah well, there's always next week, right?

Called my Mom today. She was in a rare, great mood today. Nice to see the old Mom back, if only for a day or two. I hate that she's in so much pain these days. She just had to tell me the story of Dad's last doctor's appointment. Docs office is in a hospital annex, so they can use the hospital's valet parking, it's so much easier to get Dad in a wheelchair when there's an able bodied helper. One of the Valets got them into the building and Dad discovers the electric scooter in the corner and wants it. So the Valet helps him transfer over, and off Dad goes. Scooting way ahead of Mom, then yelling at her for not keeping up. They get to the docs office and have to wait in the tiny waiting room, with Mom complaining there wasn't much room with Dad in that scooter blocking the way. Appointment over, Mom holds the door open for Dad and ZOOM!! He takes off like a rocket!! He drives the scooter straight into the waiting room wall!! Yes, he put a hole in it!
Now, I'm imagining a hole in the wall, the shape of a go-cart with the arms of the rider high up in the air. I'm still laughing at that mental image.
Needless to say, between the walls in their condo and now the doctor's wall, Daddy is grounded from anything larger than a good ol' fashioned push wheelchair. And since Mom can't push him, it looks like I may be accompanying him on future doctor's appointments. It'll be worth it to tell him "no Billy, you can't ride the pretty electric wheelchair. You are grounded remember?"

And it's going to be interesting if ... no ... *when* I get one of these jobs I've applied for. I'll be back to not having enough hours in the day if I have to work, police my own house with the Wrecking Crew being here (or make DIL follow a chore chart!!!!), doing the "adult supervision" my dad requires and running Mom's errands.
Oh, speaking of jobs ... Married Son got an email Monday night from FedEx. He's to start the next day (Tuesday at 6 AM). HIs first day went well, but it rained all day. He came home muddy and soaked. And I missed it. I was so sick I didn't leave my room that day, but I hear he was filthy!! Wednesday he said work was good, but he got bit by a dog on his ankle. Luckily it did not break the skin. Then again, Exie Poo had 14 dogs when the boys lived with him as teens, so he knows how to handle animals and bites. LOL. And, no, he didn't bite the dog back (I asked).
I can't wait to see what his third day of work brings!
Oh ... it's 1:30 AM ... and there's a COPS rerun on the tube. I missed this episode ... so, I'm outta here!!!
