OMG!! Did we have fun! It started off with a little ship watching as the schooner Highlander Sea was up-bound (north bound) just as we got there. Fascinating to watch this ship!!
Squirrels and seagulls watched as we had a snack. I ignored the seagulls, but you know my heart melted when the squirrels started to beg. Picky little buggers didn't want the pretzel sticks I threw their way. They wanted Alien's barbecued corn chips!! Isn't he just too cute?
It had been two years since we had been on the Huron Lightship, so we decided to pay the entry fee and tour the ship. We took our time, even sat on deck at a picnic table and just enjoyed the refreshing breeze. A man who works over at nearby Fort Gratiot Lighthouse as a tour guide was on the lightship. Of course I had a ton of lighthouse questions for him!! While we were talking a tour cruise ship was approaching. He asked Alien if she wanted to blast the ships horn in greeting to the passing ship. At first she declined, but he grabbed her wrist and said "come on" ... I followed and got pics of her blasting the ship's horn. A privilege not offered to *just anyone*, mind you. LOL!
Boy was she red-faced!! But she admitted it was cool to have blasted the horn while people on the deck of the passing cruise ship waved at her.
Back on shore we found a picnic table and decided to eat a very late lunch, LOL. Alien incited a riot between seagulls as she tossed *one* corn chip into a group of about half a dozen seagulls. The commotion attracted more seagulls to where we were. By the time it was all over she'd attracted ALL of the seagulls to our side of the park, and had started about a dozen seagull fights. They even dive-bombed Alien a few times!
Shipping traffic was rather heavy all day. It afforded us lots of chances to get in some ship watching and to check off more ship names in my Freighters of the Great Lakes Ship Watchers Guide.
And we laughed 'til we cried. Over anything and everything. Alien was in a goofy mood as it was, so everything was funny!
So I just hit *record* on the camera and let Alien have some silly fun ...
We laughed like this the entire day ... FUN FUN FUN!! (Sorry about the wind hitting the camera's microphone - it was really windy)
