Saturday Six ...

1) Daddy's home from the hospital. Actually got home last night, around dinner time. Mom says she *forgot* to call me. Geesh. Thankfully it wasn't a heart attack ... it was some type of reaction to the blood pressure meds Daddy had been on for the last four or so months. They put him back on his old prescription blood pressure meds and all is well again.

2) Shiloh, the cat, has run away. Got out last night when Married Son left for work. We searched and searched. No sign of him. So that leaves Shamira (if we can't find Shiloh) as the only cat in the house. And she's letting everyone know she's not happy about it. Oh ... and we think she may be pregnant, too! Yup, Shiloh had to do the nasty ... with his own sister for Pete's sake. Yuck.

3) I started drinking coffee again. Haven't had a Diet Mt. Dew in a few days. I'm feening for some Dew, I tell ya! I'm thinking it's not the flavor I miss so much as the little bubbles!! And no, I'm not gonna carbonate my coffee! Yuck!

4) Had a heat wave yesterday ... 39 degrees!! I had to run to campus to pick up my back-ordered textbook. Took my regular jacket with me. I ended up having to take it off, I was actually sweating in it. I never even turned on the car's heater. Geesh ... that's pathetic that 39 degrees would feel so hot!! Temps today back down to a more comfy 14 degrees.

5) Speaking of jackets ... I had a varsity jacket I seldom wore, $10 at Steve and Barry's ... DIL has a beautiful rather feminine leather trench-length coat she never wears, $250 from the local leather shop. We traded. I'm loving it. And she's loving the warm varsity jacket.

6) LOL ... Alien has this tag line she uses a lot.  "I swear there is a tattoo on my forehead that only guys can see that says 'I like Assholes'. How do I get it off?" It fits me, too ... only substitute the word classmates for her "guys" ...

Don't know why I did all the faces today ...

Saturday Six ...

1) Or is that Saturday Sicks? Seems I picked up a nasty bug Christmas at my cousin's house. Or so I'm assuming based on the fact that both of my parents, Alien, two aunts, and numerous cousins are all sick with the exact same bug! I feel like crap. Sneezing, coughing, sore throat, chilly (but no fever, go figure), sleepy, and a headache to beat the band. I've managed to sort of hang onto my voice this time around. GOOD!! I don't need another four months of not being able to speak (April thru August 2006 - I'll never forget THAT).

2) Doesn't help my headache that I'm out of caffeine. Need to run to store. Soon. Real soon. While I'm there I need to get cheese (velvetta of course) and tomato soup. Bread and milk, too. Lots of each. Grilled cheese and hot tomato soup sound sooooo good right now. This is the one (and ONLY) time that being single sucks ... no "honey, run up to the store for me, I'm sick as a dog and in bad need of comfort food" ... yah, I could ask one of the kids, but then I just hate giving them my debit card and ... well you parents know how that goes. Suddenly pop, tomato soup, cheese, bread and milk end up costing way more than they should.

3) Oh well, guess I get all bundled up and head out. I have to get a stamp and mail Brother Deere's birthday card today anyway. I've put that off for a few days. His birthday is Monday. I just hope the card gets there on time!

4) There's absolutely nothing good on the boob-tube today, not until 8 PM when COPS is on. Guess I check out hulu.com and see what shows or movies they've got to amuse my sick arse. LOL, speaking of hulu.com ... I introduced Daddy to hulu. Mom's ticked off at me. He's been watching old episodes of most of his favorite shows and barely comes out of his bedroom (where the computer is) now. Too funny! Glad I could find something to entertain him.

5) So that's been my new year so far. Hack. Cough. Hack. Cough. Big fuzzy bathrobe over flannel pjs. Blow nose. Hot showers trying to warm up. Nap after nap. Soup, soup, soup. Fuzzy sockie slippers.

6) On that ... Since Single Son is in the bathroom, where I need to be ... I'm crawling back into bed to warm up, Iz froze. Then make myself presentable after he vacates the only bathroom. Sick or not ... I'm not going out looking like I do now! LOL.

Saturday Six ...

Wow, haven't done a Saturday Six in a while.

1) I finally remembered to check the college website for my grades. All four of my classes I got a B in ... either a B- or a B+ ... two of each in fact. LOL. Imagine my relief to see that the jerky teacher gave me a B-. Geesh, imagine how good I'd have done if I had actually given a damn in his class.

2) I was telling my mom about the broken computer chair. She told me to take her charge card and go buy a replacement chair as part of my Christmas gift. I told her what Em had said about an Ikea chair and how she loves it. Neither of us have ever been to Ikea so I decided to invite Mom along when I go. Should be interesting. I love their catalog - heck, I've worn my copy of the catalog ragged. I just don't know if I can only buy ONE item. Should prove to be interesting. Ya, as much as I hate shopping I'm geeked about going. Not sure when we'll go. Mom's not been feeling real well lately. We'll have to wait until she's feeling up to it.

3) Ringo hasn't had a seizure in a week. He's still pulling at the hair on his hind legs and tail, though. I've noticed that while Grandson is here that Ringo actually seems to do okay. Then again, DIL explained to Grandson that Ringo is *sick* and needs extra gentle loving. Grandson will sit for the longest time with Ringo on his lap, just petting him and talking super soft to him. It's cute ... and actually seems to be helping the cat's stress levels considerably.

4) Speaking of stress levels (mine, LOL) ... Married Son and all still haven't moved in yet. They're working on it. LOL. DIL decided to take extra time to sort and properly organize their belongings as most of it will end up going into a storage unit anyway. It's been a slow (but steady) process. They'll still be moving in, we're just not sure when yet. LOL.

5) Ummmm ... This is interesting. I have the news on in the background and they're saying that Viagra is helping in the fight on terrorism? Read the ariticle HERE. Talk about "Make love not war" ...

6) I so can't come up with a sixth thought. Not after that last one. Little Blue Pill ... who'da thunk it?

Saturday Six ... OR ... Totally Random Stuff

Which logo do you like best?

Logo #1

1) Geesh, this week is passing sooooo quickly!! But then, the time from Halloween to Christmas just seems to fly by every year. And I swear it's getting faster as I get older!

2) Not an hour ago Single Son finally attached the roof-top antenna to the digital converter box. OMG! Now I get all those channels I couldn't with the rabbit ears. No more having to play with the rabbit ears each time I changed channels. I'm a happy camper!

3) Not a lot going on here for Thanksgiving Break. Dinner at my folks house. Other than that, it'll be working on homework. Talk about thankful ... I'm thankful for the week off so I can (hopefully) catch up with these *&$*#& group projects.

4) Coming out of class today, the gal who really irritates me did a total avoidance thing. To the point that she acted like I wasn't even there (sooooo kindergarten if you ask me). I don't know what I did to piss her off, but then again, I'm not going to figure it out either. I'm enjoying the fact that she's not pestering me anymore. Wow, that sounds so mean, doesn't it? But really ... I am not aware of anything I did to piss of *her highness* ... other than talking to a gal in the class that she absolutely loathes.

5) I wonder how bad my next term PITA (pain in the ass) relationship is gonna be? Yeah, every term I seem to attract at least one PITA. Never fails. I mean, I don't think I'm wearing "Asshole Magnet" shirt to class.

6) I've been playing around with designing logos for my new company. I'm down to two that I like. I'm partial to the one. I asked Single Son for his opinion, of course he's partial to the other one. So ... now I don't know which one I want to go with ...

Logo #1 ...

Single Son thinks this one is too *dated*. Something out of the 1920s, he says.

Logo #2 ...

He likes this one ... says it's more modern ... but to legally use this one I will have to register (and pay a fee) to the online logo designing site I used.

So .. what do you think? Answer on the survey and which ever one wins will be the official logo for "Elsie's Attic" once it opens next spring.

Not so Saturday Six ...

It's been a while since I've even signed on to Multiply ... got a lot of catching up to do!

So ... let's see ... my week ...

Wednesday was Alien's 17th birthday. What a day! We were going to go to Rain Forest Cafe for her birthday dinner. My mom had given her $25 to pick out her own present with. She decides she wants a hoodie she had seen in the Maul when she and Married Son were there earlier this month. Only, she didn't know the name of the store! So ... we start looking for the store. Our starting point was a store call Bass Pro Shop. We walked the entire 1.2 mile length of the Maul (Great Lakes Crossing for you who know where I'm talking). It's a HUGE Maul ... anyway ... we walked the entire length of the darned maul before we found the store we were looking for. Four stores away from our starting point. Only we went in the wrong direction. She found her hoodie and she bought it with the birthday money Grandma gave her. Wonder what my mom's going to say when she sees the gray hoodie with crosses and skull bones all over it. Hmmmm. LOL!

While walking we decided that Chinese sounded better and went to the food court instead of Rain Forest Cafe. Alien figured we'd save money ... BUT ... what money we saved at the food court (vs. Rain Forest Cafe) was soon spent at her favorite store - Hot Topics. More goth stuff ... fingerless gloves and a "HIM" necklace. So much for the money we'd saved by eating cheaper. She more than made up for the savings. LOL. But hey, she's only 17 once and damn did we have fun. Ya, fun at the Maul, who'da thunk it?

Thursday was a stressful day. I'm really hating that Professional Communication class with a passion. The instructor does NOT communicate what he wants out of assignments or homework, he's highly disorganized and he loses papers all the time (2 of the assignments I've turned in he says he doesn't have). And I'm not the only student who feels this way - I hear complaints all the time about this guy. After the *formal* part of class (lectures, presentations, etc) we had one on one meetings with the teacher. I asked him what I could do to make up for the fact I'll be in Chicago for a major assignment (a presentation using power point). He tells me absolutely not, but if I play my cards right I may be able to do a private presentation for him, that he's not going to waste class time on make up presentations. I asked him something else that I thought was important and was interupted with "are you done? You're wasting my time" as he turns his back to me and walks away. So much for professionalism, so much for giving a damn about your students. And yes I have a meeting on Monday with the campus Dean to discuss this treatment I received, and the way he's done similar with other students. Three students who witnessed the whole exchange came to me afterwards and told me they have my back and will be happy to act as witnesses to the rude behaviors they and I have recieved in this class. I just pray there's no repercussions for me or my fellow classmates complaining!

Friday was uneventful. Yay!!

Had a great Small Business class today ... well, we do every time this class meets, the teacher is great! There was also a campus open house today. Lots of goodies and give aways, so I asked Married Son to bring Alien up to the campus to partake in the freebies. They got there earlier than I had anticipated but I had warned my instructor that if he sees a weird looking bunch of kids hanging outside the class room to ignore them, that it's just my kids. LOL. When they showed up Teacher nodded to me, got his "I'm gonna make trouble" grin ... and invited them all into the room for the last fifteen minutes of the lecture. He even had Married Son involved in questions and answers. LOL! Grandson was with them. He sat quietly at the desk in front of me, writing "notes" in the notebook I had given to him. Weird to have my kids and grandkid invited into the classroom. After my class was over we did the open house thingie. Grandson came away like a little bandit. A story book, t-shirt and visor ... and he got to make ice cream and eat it and got to gawk over the skelton of "Elmer" a mastadon that was discovered locally during roadway construction excavation. Married Son and I had free massages. Ahhhhhhh ... I feel like a million bucks now. LOL!! Fun was had by all.

And in between all the fun and excitement it's been hit the books. Mid term already. Big assignments due  ... studying for tests ... working on group presentations ... all that stuff that goes with school. I barely come up for air these days. I so swear that next semester I'm going to better plan my course-load and balance easy and hard courses. This all hard course (heavy workload) is for the birds.

As usual, I've been keeping up with ya'll through email updates. Gotta love those. Even though I am not signing on, I can at least lurk and keep up with what's going on in the lives of my friends.

Saturday Six ... On Sunday ...

1) Had a scare last night with the cat Ringo. He was sitting on the laundry hamper in the bathroom while I was getting ready for bed. For no reason other than he's not coordinated to begin with, he fell off the hamper. It would have been hysterically funny had he not gone into a seizure almost as soon as he hit the floor. He's never had a seizure before ... so the two minute ordeal pretty much freaked me out. He seemed a little wobbly for a few minutes afterwards, but seems to be fine today.

2) Speaking of laundry hampers ... in an effort to get the kids to stop abandoning their clothes in the middle of the bathroom floor I went out and bought two hampers - one for each of the ones that still live at home. So ... the hampers weren't in the bathroom for ten minutes before Ringo had *moved* into Alien's hamper. Poor Alien, has to check to make sure she's not burying the cat before she throws her dirty laundry into it!! What's really odd is that when I first adopted Ringo I also bought him a fancy cat bed. He never once set paw into it!! Yet, every cardboard box I bring in - or new hampers, laundry baskets and other storage devices he moves into until the next new item is brought into the house. Weird cat? Or is that normal? I've never before had a cat do the things that this one does.

3) Married Son decided last week to get back into long haul truck driving. He is presently *stuck* in Nebraska, waiting on a load to bring back toward Michigan. He's been stuck there since Thursday. Can't make money if he and his truck are sitting idle. Thank heaven for WiFi cards and WiFi enabled truck stops or we'd not have a clue as to where he is.

4) And speaking of Married Son ... he's changed business plans yet again. He's so frustrated with the state of the economy and how hard it is to get a decent job up here in Michigan (estimated 11% unemployment here right now) ... that he's decided that he's moving to Kentucky ASAP and will start the Pilot Car company the first of next year. We'll see what happens. Plans seem to really change (almost daily sometimes) with Married Son. He's a good man, but he gets impatient when it comes to getting the business going.

5) I really like my Small Business instructor. Not only does he make class fun, but he makes himself available to his students for any reason. I talked to him today after class about Married Son's timing on possibly moving, especially with the current economic situation. He put my mind at ease ... yeah, it's a gamble (maybe even more so in this economy) to start your own business, BUT if the economy is to improve, those risk takers need to initiate growth and the sooner the better. Teacher also helped me to see that what's bothering me most is not the risk he's taking, but that Grandson won't be 5 minutes away anymore. He'll be six hours away. Makes sense. The kids moving away won't be too hard. Yeah, I'll miss them but we've had a lifetime to bond. And now here's Grandson - who I'm still in the beginning of a lifetime of bonding with ... and now he's gonna be moving so far away. It's going to be a long year and a half before I can join them.

6) I've decided I totally *hate* working in groups. Not that I don't like working with others, but in group projects it always seems to end up that one or two carry the weight of the entire group. Case in point ... my Saturday Small Business/Entrepreneurship class. Started out with four in the group ... now it's three of us. Only ... I'm the only one who ever shows up for class and does ALL of the assignments. This teacher warned us that if we didn't like working in groups already, we would by the time this class was over. Boy did he hit that nail on the head. Nice thing is that he deducts points from absent teammates and gives them to the ones that actually do the work or show up for class every week.

10/4/08

Saturday Six ...

1) Yay! I survived another week. The Business test last week didn't go as bad as I thought, I managed to pull a B on it. However, the all essay question test in my Small Business and Entrepreneurship class today didn't go near as well as I would have liked. That's a test that if I get a D on it I'll be amazed. I don't know why I froze on the essay test, but damned if I didn't sit down and go totally blank. Thankfully the teacher has a crazy sense of humor - he gave us silly little bonus phrases like "dirty dozen" and "chitty chitty bang bang" to add in certain places on the paper for bonus points AND we got an extra point if we got our names spelled right and the correct date on the test paper. So just with the bonus points I'll get at least a D on the test, LOL!

2) Feeling a lot better after my fall last Saturday. Had to laugh when we were leaving today, *Polly* (yes, I've nicknamed her Polly ... as in Polly want a cracker) my pain in the butt *friend* wouldn't let me walk on the lower side of the sidewalk, said she didn't think she could handle so much hysterical laughter again. She was a little easier to tolerate today, still a pain with her uncertainties about a relationship she's in, but didn't seem so needy this time around. What is it with me finding these types anyway? The sorts of questions she asks reminds me of two little girls talking about boys on a playground in elementary school.

3) Went grocery shopping with Alien after school. I know, thrilling!! We had a good laugh or two, nice having her back to normal, well as normal as a teen possessed by aliens can be. She really caught me off guard when I said "shit" ... she added "shit flames. save matches". I thought I was gonna lose it.

4) Don't tell anyone but I'm taking the evening off from homework. I need it. I deserve it. COPS is on tonight, you know where I'll be!! Snuggled up under my fuzzy blankey keeping warm and watching COPS. I'm still waiting for the show to shadow my cop son ... like that'll ever happen. Wouldn't that be cool, though? Have a kid on COPS and I don't mean in handcuffs in the back of the squad car!!

5) Can you believe the price of gas lately? Seems it took an economic disaster to bring it back under control. It's still got a ways to drop before I can afford a fill up, but it's a lot better than the dollar more we were paying for gas just a few short months ago .

6) 25 days and counting until I'm in Chicago to meet Helen!! I can't wait ...

9/28/08

Saturday Six ... A Day Late ...

Saturday Six ...
1) Confession Time ... I am a klutz. Always have been, always will be. And the last two days have been pretty klutzy, even for me. Friday night getting ready for bed I cut a corner too short and kneed my blanket chest with my left knee. It left a long scrape and a bruise the size of an old Eisenhower silver dollar on my knee cap. Then yesterday leaving class, while talking to a classmate I managed to fall off the sidewalk. Yes, fall off the sidewalk! Only a true klutz can pull that one off. Poor girl I was talking with! She freaked out! Here my big butt falls and her tiny arse thinks she's gonna help me up? Girl isn't much bigger than a minute and she'd gonna help *me* up? Gotta give her credit for that *I can do it* attitude. And all I was worried about was if my new cell phone was okay as my stuff went flying. My friend laughed because I managed to not break the smoke I had just lit, LOL. I twisted my left ankle and pulled or bruised the muscles in the arch and top of my foot, I can barely walk today. Good job. NOT!

2) Single Son saw me limping shortly after I got home from school yesterday. "Mom, what'd you do?" "I fell at school" "Don't be doing that. You're too old, you could break a hip or something".

3) I'm debating if this new friendship is worth me coming up with a nickname for her. She seems okay, but the jury is still out on that one, LOL. Those of you who knew me in my 360 days will remember that I seem to attract one weirdo a semester. She's looking to be a good candidate as my newest weirdo. I'm not really sure why I say this, just a gut instinct, that's all.

4)  I'm not sure how that Intro to Business test went the other day. The way some of her questions were worded made more than one answer possible. More than a few students complained about that. So we'll see if she adjusts for multiple possibilities.

5) LOL! I just realized that today is Sunday, not Saturday. Geesh ... this having a Saturday class really throws me off obviously.

6) Guess I hobble off to the store. I'm craving salty snacks something fierce today. For some reason Dill Pickle flavored potato chips sound real good ...

9/6/08

Saturday Six ...

1) Saturday's class is another homework intensive class. 120 pages of reading, an outline to write, and some *field* research on local businesses. All work in class is group oriented. I seem to have a good group to work with.

2) Another FUN instructor. His introductory speech was a hoot, as well as informative. Had to laugh when somehow a dog had briefly wandered into the room, "it's too early for this class to go to the dogs". He's strict, though, when it comes to his few rules being followed. A few students had wandered into the room after start time. He made them sit out in the hallway for a while before allowing them into the room. Sort of reminds me of a grandfatherly type ... fun to be around, just play by the rules. Gonna be yet another good class.

3) During the "suck butt" break (smokers will get this right away), I was talking to one of my classmates. Her husband owns a company that does Business Analysis. She mentioned they also do mystery shopping. I told her of my extensive experience in mystery shopping. She's going to talk to her husband about seeing if he's hiring. If he is, she'll make sure to pass my contact information to him. Keep your fingers crossed. This is a part time job, it'd be a good opportunity for me.

4) It's supposed to be my weekend with the Alien and here I am buried under books. Married Son decided he'd take her to his house so she can hang out and not have to look at the top of Mom's head bend over some book or the other all weekend.

5) I really should be doing homework!! But I have to be at the computer anyway to email some info to Instructor Funny. I got a little side tracked, eh?

6) What I want to be doing is catching up with everyone's blogs. I've got to apologize for not being a real good blog buddy right now and not visiting ya'lls blogs. I promise I'll try to catch up with everyone when I can.

Fun's over ... time to hit the books!!

8/30/08

Satruday Six ...

This week's Saturday Six are six things I've learned this week ...

1) When Firefox pop up says  "updates available, do you wish to update now"? DO NOT click *update later*. Doing so will cause all of your saved bookmarks to go bye-bye. It's not the first time it happened to me, but I finally figured out why it's happening. After six months of restoring the last collection of bookmarks, I now have to replace them all again.

2) Which leads me to #2, always save your bookmarks somewhere on your computer just for such events. The last save I did was in 2004. Slightly outdated favorites, I'd say.

3) Don't wear flip flops on college campus. Especially when they've been doing extensive remodeling and building projects! Never know if where you think you're going hasn't been moved to the opposite end of the campus!

4) Based on the reaction and questions I had when I introduced myself as a Trekkie in class that being a Trekkie isn't all that geeky after all ... or there's a lot more closet geeks out there than I suspected. I'm not sure which.

5) Do not attempt to do homework on an empty stomach. The growling is way too disruptive.

6) I am definitely a night person. This early morning stuff is going to take some major getting used to. And yes, 9 AM is early morning in my book.

8/23/08

Saturday Six ...

1) Ringo the indoor cat escaped again yesterday. Not for long this time, though. An hour or two tops. As soon as I walked outside to leave I hear his meows. Between Barky Dog, the sprinkling rain and the memories of last summer when he was shot at must have really put him through hell. He couldn't get in the house quick enough. When I returned from the store he was sitting near the door but made no attempt to bolt. Just welcomed me home with a sad little meow. Poor thing. Maybe now he's been outside he'll stop trying to escape.

2) I'm ready for the summer to end. I'm looking forward to winter - and snow!! I'm tired of this heat and humidity. I love my friends dearly, but ya'll can keep your dog days of summer. I'm soooo ready for winter!

3) Reading the student announcement board online I see that the one campus I'll be at this term has a massage therapy clinic. Open to everyone as their ad says. I am so going to be making my appointment and soon!!

4) OMG! Did I find the coolest bookbag! I really didn't need it, but with only one class a day it beats carry that bulky ol' backpack I usually carry. It's a 70's floral pattern. Orange, yellow, green, blue. It's bright that's for sure. Won't lose sight of me in a blizzard this winter!! Oh yeah, it was at that one dollar store I love. Couldn't pass it up for a buck! Now I just need to find a 70s patterned pouch that I can use for my pencils and pens! I wish I knew how to sew - or even owned a sewing machine. Then I'd buy another bookbag and make one - and maybe a matching fabric school wallet with cell phone pocket? Carry my phone, cash and ID without lugging my big ol' purse around with me.

5) Another reason to be glad the summer is ending - I miss Alien. She's been most of the summer either at her father's house or at Married Son's house helping him with salvage. Rarely here. I think I've only seen her about a dozen times this summer. Half of those at Married Son's house.

6) Great, my cell phone is the latest target of the Gremlin!! I'll go to call a number and it'll randomly shut off as I'm dialing. Text messaging is the same. I lose power usually as I'm writing a text out. I have three batteries for that phone, so I know it's not a battery going. It's the phone! I've also noticed that the display screen is getting dimmer, too. I can't replace it until the end of September. I just hope it holds out that long! I've had a nice little web accessible phone on my wish list for a while now, the Motorola RAZR V3s. Looks like I'll *have* to buy it soon!

8/9/08

Saturday Six

1) I just realized that I haven't heard barky dog in a while. Night or day, it's been Barky free for days. Hmmmmm, could it be they sent him off? Then again, two kids under the age of three, and another on the way I'm betting Barky's gone for good.

2) My mom had her cat put to sleep yesterday. Abbey was 16 years old and recently was in a lot of pain. Mom decided the other day that she just couldn't bear to see Abbey so miserable any longer. The vet agreed. Mom's taking it better than I thought she would.

3) Yeah!! I found out late yesterday that my Pell Grant application went through. It'll be another week before I know how much I qualified for.

4) Why is that people don't think a woman can give directions? I was at the gas station eariler today ... some guy came in looking for directions to a city about 50 miles north of here. The man who started giving him directions had him going in the opposite direction. So I piped up with BETTER directions, directions that would actually get him where he needed to be. No one would believe me until some guy interupted with "the little lady is right, just follow her directions".

5) I bought a new diabetic bracelet on eBay on Wednesday. It was in today's mail. I'm really impressed with the service this eBay-er gave. It's the quickest I've ever recieved something. I'm totally happy with the product, too. It's one of those Italian Charm bracelets - with a "Diabetic" triple link charm. I also got Alien an "allergic to penicillin" triple link. And I bought myself a fun charm, too, a lighthouse. All together the order didn't cost me what a diabetic alert bracelet would have cost me locally.

6) Well I should probably turn the computer off. There's a weather alert for a bad storm headed this way. Lots of thunder and lightening. We know how my Gremlin loves to mess things up, best if I shut down until the storms pass - or risk losing another computer to a lightening strike.

8/2/08

Saturday Six ...

1) Spent a few hours this morning saying goodbye to Tiger. Ended up doing some stuff around the old house for him (packing last minute stuff, sweeping ... ) just to stick around a little longer. Oh I hate goodbyes. Weird since we only reconnected last August after 29 years of no contact. It was like we'd never *not* been around for each other.

2) Another old high school friend was there, too. I hadn't seen him since '78. It was a surprise to see him. Glad he was there ... for some odd reason it made saying goodbye to Tiger a little easier with GK there. Cracking his silly jokes to keep the mood light. He hasn't changed in 30 years!! Nice to know, too, that Tiger won't be driving the trailer with all his crap alone. It's a long drive from Michigan to North Carolina.

3) Last night Alien was at Married Son's house. A guy was there, someone that Son had hired to help with the salvage. He's in his fifties. He cornered Alien at some point and attempted to sexually assault her. Smart girl that she is ... she got away from him immediately and went to tell Son about it. The police were called in. They won't do a damned thing against this pervert because first the homeowner (or tenant) has to verbally warn the person to stay off their property and/or away from them. Since it was the first warning, the cops can't do jack shit.

4) You have no idea how grateful I am that both of my sons are former military (and one's a cop). They've both trained their sister in self defense. Drilled it into her really, until it became second nature. Yes, I worry about her because she's my only daughter, but it puts my mind at ease that under such circumstances as what she just went through that she can pretty much handle herself. AND she knows to get help ASAP ... including bringing the cops into the picture.

5) Alien has a new boyfriend. Seems like a nice kid, at least so far, LOL. He's livid about the attempted assault. Oh yeah, he's also DIL's younger cousin. He smokes. Seems weird to see my baby - the last of the litter - with a boy who smokes.

6) Days like this I wish I lived up in Port Huron! I so could use some relaxation time at my favorite park ... just letting the breeze clear my head, watching ships passing, inciting seagull riots with Frito's Corn Chips ...

Saturday Sixes ...

LOL!!! Saw this on Penguin's blog and thought what the heck? I have Ten Thoughts Tuesday, the Friday Five ... why not a Saturday Six? LOL!

1) Decided to not go to the class get together at the bar tonight. I would have gone had there been at least one person on the RSVP list that I had associated with in high school. But as it stands, even though I remember a few of the names on the list, I had no interest in them back then, nor do I now.

2) Instead I've decided to head to the store for a rare treat - a bag of chips. I'll then pick a movie out of Single Son's room and spend the evening watching it. Who knows, I may end up in the middle of a movie marathon yet, LOL!

3) As long as I'm killing my carb intake today a pizza sounds really really good for dinner, too. Pizza, pop (diet of course, LOL), chips and a movie marathon with the cats. Sounds so much better than a night of drinking with people I barely remember!

4) OMG!! I just realized I'm turning into that Crazy Cat Lady. It's official! I *AM* the Crazy Cat Lady. Gawd help me.

5) Or am I a troll? According to Married Son I'm turning into a troll. He thinks I'd rather sit in my cave than go out into the *world* as he put it. Now I might agree with him, but I do have my outside activities that I love and look forward to. I just don't feel the need (like I used to) to have to find things outside the house to amuse me.

6) It's not that I don't enjoy going out into the *world*, I do. Guess it's just being so broke all the time has taught me I don't need to go spend money I don't have to keep myself entertained. Or busy. Heck, between school, the Star Trek club and other crap that's going on, I'm finding I'm enjoying my down-time this summer!

Well, that was fun. LOL ... I may actually keep going with the Saturday Six. That is, providing I have enough thoughts for the Ten Thoughts Tuesday *and* Saturday Six! LOL!

Off to get munchies and pizza!! I'm a baaaaaaaaaaad girl!!
