Paperwork!! Lots of Paperwork!!

So much paperwork I can't see the top of my desk right now!!

I still haven't found Alien's errors in the company records. Not that I'm not trying. I am!! It's there ... somewhere ... and I hope it makes itself visible to me before I lose my sanity.

Oh wait, too late!! Sanity isn't something I am familiar with any more.

That's okay ... I'm comfy with being nuts.

Really.

*****STAR TREK*****

How else could you explain the fact I occasionally run around in public in a Star Trek uniform? Or that I associate with people that do the same? And not only in an officially licensed uniform, but with all the gadgets that go with it (tricorders, communicators, phaser weapons).

Crazy bunch ... and I love 'em to death.

On to the Christmas Party and Change of Command (COC) Ceremony.

As soon as I arrived at the party location, LD pulls me aside and says she has a gift for me. It's my very own red shirt! My first! It's a TOS (The Original Series) shirt, so I'm thinking I need to get the TOS phaser, communicator and tricorder to go with it!! Can't be a Trekkie without the proper accessories, ya know?

Single Son's "retirement" speech went well. He really is a comedian. He got a little teary eyed stepping down from his ten years as our chapter's Commander. I did, too. Silly, eh? But when you consider, not only did his love of Star Trek create the group, but ten plus years of hard work and enthusiasm has made the USS Sinclair one of the top clubs in our region. And ... as close as I am to my children, this has been an activity we can all participate in together.

After RD was sworn in as our new Commander his first official act was to promote me to the rank of Commander, then swear me in as his Executive Officer (XO).

After the COC we had dinner (yum!) and then did our gift exchange. We have some different rules for our exchange. We draw numbers to decide who gets go in what order. Once you open the gift you picked, it's fair game for the next person to steal from you. If your gift is stolen, you get to go pick another gift from under the tree. Again, that gift can be stolen, too. Each gift can be stolen up to three times, but you cannot steal a gift back. And if that's not bad enough, once all the gifts are opened, there's a three minute free for all (so that the people that opened a gift before you have a chance to steal the gifts that were opened later). Sucks. Especially if you get a great gift the first time. Like I did ... a scale model of the USS Enterprise. It was stolen by The Canadian, our Commander of STARFLEET ... the big boss. The next gift I opened was a dvd pack for The Matrix movies. Only problem being, we already own them!! And of course, no one stole that from me, I opted out from trying for a better present (I'll regift the movies to Married Son), because I was too chicken to get involved in the mayhem of the free for all.

After that we had a meeting with the previous Command Staff and the new Command Staff. Exchange of ideas, and a briefing as far as what is involved with our new positions ... and yes, the position of XO has a ton and a half of paperwork with it. We may be a fan association, but "headquarters" wants lots of papers, forms and other things submitted once a month. Six hours or so worth of paperwork a month, I've been told. And that doesn't include the time to keep up with the website, the facebook page, or planning different activities.

I'm gonna be busy for the next three years!!

Here's a few Trekkie photos ... enjoy!!
