In Economic Vice, Pontiac (Michigan) Struggles - New York Times Video

I had originally posted this and then deleted it a few days ago. I decided it's worth reposting.

This is a sad documentary of the area I live in. The place I call home. I was raised here. I've never lived anywhere else. I almost abandoned my home in search of greener pastures. I cannot leave. I do not want to leave. This is home. It's worth staying. Worth fighting for. Worth saving.

http://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2009/02/15/business/20090215_pontiac_multimedia/index.html

Please be sure to watch all three parts of the video.

There is hope ... there is always hope. Like the Phoenix, Pontiac and Detroit have risen from the ashes before. We can do it again. We are fighters. We will survive.

Companies are coming from out of state to invest in Michigan, creating thousands of jobs in the process. An estimated three thousand new jobs just from the headlines below:

In the days and weeks to come you will see a lot more posts from me about "Think Michigan First" and "Buy Michigan Now" ...

If every household started spending just $10 per week of their current grocery budget on locally grown foods we’d keep more than $37 Million each week circulating within Michigan’s economy. *

If every household started spending just $10 per week of their current grocery budget on locally grown foods, we’d keep more than $37 million each week circulating within Michigan’s economy.* Even if you're not a Michigander, if you see these brands on your store shelves how 'bout giving us a helping hand by buying Michigan products??

Happy Camper!

Grades were just posted to the internet. I got an "A-" in Photoshop, a "B+" in Intro to Business (Econ), and ... drum roll please ... a "C" in Intro to Database! A "C" ... talk about relieved!! I left class that day swearing if I had a "D" as my final grade I'd be thankful!! I've been trying to get into the system to find out how that's effected my 3.452 GPA, but for some odd reason I can't get to that part of the system. My luck ... LOL.

So, not much else going on around here today. Been cleaning out one of my email boxes. That's why all the joke postings today. Good stuff I've been meaning to post to my blog before I delete them for ever.

Got an email I'm going to share with all my Michigan friends. I need to work on it a little bit first, since it came to me in a PDF file and I can't post it here until it's in a text format. I want to be able to share it with everyone. It's a list of Michigan companies and some of the many products they offer. If every Michigander would spend just $10 a week in buying Michigan-made products we would put $36 million back in to the Michigan economy *each week*!!

In the meantime I fould this link ...
http://www.buymichiganproducts.com/Public/Index.php

Yeah, I know I wanted to leave Michigan for greener pastures. I still do in a way. But at the same time, Michigan *is* my homestate. I hate what's been happening to what was once a great state. We all need to band together and fix what's wrong.

Maybe then none of us will have to leave Michigan in search of employment.
