Ten Thoughts Tuesday

1) Transfer from Baker over to OCC this week has gone smoothly. I go tomorrow to register for classes. Now, just pray my pell grant is transferable. LOL!

2) Single Son was fixing my bedroom door lock the other day. He ended up locking us both in the room when he accidently closed the door with the rest of the knob mechanism on the *wrong* side. Luckily his tools were on the right side of the door, otherwise we'd have been stuck until someone came to rescue us.

3) The hernia won't kill me. The diabetes won't kill me. The stress of being in the passenger seat while Alien gets road experience WILL!!

4)  Went to get my new glasses the other day. I only had the appointment the day before. What a trip getting used to lined bifocals. My last pair had the blended bi-focal. Of course, Alien teased me unmercifully. I'm still trying to get used to the lines!

5) I'm really having trouble coming up with ten thoughts today. This doesn't surprise me, really. Most weeks I have trouble with ten thoughts.

6) I haven't got out much since the snowstorm the other day. Our subdivision streets are still pretty miserable. So is my driveway. Obviously I'm not going to be shoveling snow, not that I did before. But I'm sure not doing it now with this stupid hernia.

7) Why is it that before being diagnosed with diabetes I could have cared less about chocolate? Now I'm craving it. Is that just because I know I can't have it now? Weird.

8)  I'd have thought that giving up my carbs would have been more difficult. But no ... the carbs are easier for me to watch than I thought.

9) Been reading in a lot of blogs lately from my friends who are diabetic (or newly diagnosed like me) about the benefits of apple cider vinegar. I'm seriously thinking of trying that route. Of course, I'll follow whatever the doc recommends, but a couple of spoonfuls of cider vinegar can't hurt, can it? I just wonder what torture it'll cause me with the hernia? Everything I eat causes problems right now. Hmmmmm, think I might just hold off until after surgery.

10) And now I have this stuck in my head ... "Just a spoonful of sugar helps the medicine go down, the medicine go down, the medicine go down. Just a spoonful of sugar helps the medicine go down in the most delightful way" ... somehow i'm thinking, though, that a spoonful of vinegar won't go down in a most delightful way ...

  1. You have to get better! Don't try to do anything too soon after your surgery! I need you around to help me get IcePrincess, Frick & Frack through the teenage years! Take care of yourself! Hope all goes well!

  3. oh your son did good LOL, thats something I would do except the tools would be on the wrong side of the door.
Strangulated intestines can sorry but if part of the intestine dies off you have major probs especially the small intestine.. oh I am sorry for being a poop but mum was just in hospital with a blockage. I'm a poop(no pun intended there) LOL for writing that but I mean it in a caring way not a yukky way, am concerned about your health...you make sure you get others to do as much as possible for you!!
Michigans storms made our news yesterday as did a lot of the U.S with the snow/sleet storms etc. Take extra care out there.. did the car I gave yu as a Xmas pressie arrive? LOL.
If your diabetes can be controlled by diet and or tablets you can have chocolate again JUST NOT YET... which doesnt help at all with your cravings, tehre's some awesome cookbooks available for diabetics now and everything looks delish!

    7. We always want what we shouldn't have...
    8. That's what I found to be true...You can always fry up and egg or eat some bacon or something! And a lot of burger places will serve you the burget wrapped in lettuce instead of a bun, if you order it that way!
    9. I would wait on that one, or at least talk to the doctor first!
    10. Yeah, it's AWFUL!!!
