I found this and thought it was absolutely great!!!
SURELY I CAN'T LOOK THAT OLD
HAVE YOU EVER BEEN GUILTY OF LOOKING AT OTHERS YOUR OWN AGE AND THINKING, "SURELY I CAN'T LOOK THAT OLD?"
WELL... YOU'LL LOVE THIS ONE!
I WAS SITTING IN THE WAITING ROOM FOR MY FIRST APPOINTMENT WITH A NEW DENTIST. I NOTICED HIS DDS DIPLOMA, WHICH BORE HIS FULL NAME.
SUDDENLY, I REMEMBERED A TALL, HANDSOME, DARK-HAIRED BOY WITH THE SAME NAME HAD BEEN IN MY HIGH SCHOOL CLASS SOME 40-ODD YEARS AGO. COULD HE BE THE SAME GUY THAT I HAD A SECRET CRUSH ON, WAY BACK THEN?
UPON SEEING HIM, HOWEVER, I QUICKLY DISCARDED ANY SUCH THOUGHT.
THIS BALDING, GRAY-HAIRED MAN WITH THE DEEPLY LINED FACE WAS WAY TOO OLD TO HAVE BEEN MY CLASSMATE.
AFTER HE EXAMINED MY TEETH, I ASKED HIM IF HE HAD ATTENDED MORGAN PARK HIGH SCHOOL. "YES. YES, I DID. I'M A MUSTANG," HE GLEAMED WITH PRIDE.
"WHEN DID YOU GRADUATE?" I ASKED.
HE ANSWERED, "IN 1959. WHY DO YOU ASK?"
"YOU WERE IN MY CLASS!" I EXCLAIMED. HE LOOKED AT ME CLOSELY.
THEN, THAT UGLY, OLD, WRINKLED, BALD, FAT, GRAY, DECREPIT SON-OF-A-BITCH ASKED,
"WHAT DID YOU TEACH?"

I'm guilty of this, we have a TV programme called '10 years younger' when they ask 100 people to guess someone's age before they do a transformation to make them look younger. At the beginning I think they look older than me and my daughter keeps reassuring me I don't look too bad. By the end I'm feeling ancient and my daughter is saying - well if you had a facelift and new teeth etc. etc. Lol
ReplyDeleteGee, Facelift ... new teeth ... wow ... how nice of your daughter!! LOL! Sounds like my kids ... "you're not old Mom, well, compared to dirt anyway". They swear I got to school on a dinosaur and that we used stone tablets instead of paper tablets. They love to remind me when it's time to recolor my hair "gee, Mom, getting a few more grays up there aren't we". They have threatened to find a nursing home for me ... and took great pleasure recently when the application for my AARP card showed up in the mail. That's the American Association of Retired Persons for my non-American friends.
ReplyDeleteGlad we don't have anything like that on the tellie over here!! I'd never hear the end of it! LOL!
OMG I Love these I was laughing at the second one (I watched that first..don't ask I don't know) Then I thought omg that's me lololololol
ReplyDeleteThe first one made me laugh more SO much freakin good stuff to look forward too! Rofl I have to steall these for my down days and replay them LOL
Helen, LOL!! Second one first, eh? Nope, I won't ask ...
ReplyDeleteGo for it ... steal away ...
