Tagged by Helen ... to do ten things about myself that y'all may or may not know about me and then I am supposed to tag five more people. Since Helen already tagged some of the folks I would have tagged I'm asking for volunteers instead! LOL ...
1) I hate heat! I'm not looking forward to summer just for this reason. If it could stay about 60 degrees year round I'd be happy. Oh, and I'm cheap so I refuse to run the a/c in the car or house.
2) I was born in Detroit. We moved to Oakland County when I was two. I've lived in this county since then - forty six years and counting.
3) Bubba (ex #2) won a trip to the Bahamas in a radio call-in contest. Five days all expenses paid, except food, lol. I would have preferred to have gone with someone who would have appreciated the local culture. All he wanted to do was eat at McDonald's and S'barro!! Jerk had (has) no class!!
4) After my last divorce in 2002 I went through a series of dating disasters. And I do mean disasters!! From the *Unibrow* who ordered two dishes off the appetizer list because he had a buy one get one free coupon (that was our entire meal) ... to the rich guy who stuck me with the bill from an expensive restaurant ... to the guy that I just dumped because he wants a mother (for himself and to bear his children) - and more!! All of them bachelors. In fact, I've never dated a divorcee. Go figure! Women that complain there's no bachelors out there are wrong. That's all I attract for some odd reason!
5) I was painfully shy as a child. I'm far from it now.
6) I am not afraid of creepy crawly things. I refuse to kill them. If there's a spider roaming, or a bee buzzing in the house I will relocate it back to the outside. Even though I'm allergic to bees, I won't harm one. Bees usually only sting when they feel threatened - since I don't show fear they leave me alone. One exception to that rule are earwigs. Those damned things I'll squish in a heartbeat!
7) While I'm not big on video games or roll playing games, I do like to solve puzzles or play miniature golf on the computer.
8) I took five and a half years of French way back in junior high and high school. About all I remember is how to ask if I can go to my locker - or the bathroom.
9) My brothers played hockey when we were kids. Being the rink rat that I was, I pretty much grew up in hockey arenas - going to every game and most of the practices their teams had. I was a Detroit Red Wings fan before it was cool.
10) The most unique car I ever owned was a 1963 Plymouth Valiant. It had a push button transmission. It was a great little car. My most favorite car was my 1978 Pontiac Trans Am. I wouldn't mind owning either one of them again but my next car will be something practical that gets good gas mileage. Possibly a hybrid.
I don't think I know any batchelors over 40, I always ended up with divorcees!
ReplyDeleteFrench is the only language I remember from school, my son (at 16!) dated a French student teacher, she switched from French to English so easily she made me realise how lazy we are sometimes. I am now struggling to learn a small amount of Welsh as we have to be bilingual at school, it is a compulsory subject in schools in Wales and my children have all managed it!
So should I say Goodnight, Bon Nuit or Nos Da Lol!
I had a Plymouth Valiant with the push button transmission. I can't remember the year, I think it was like a '61. It was electrick blue and it had no headliner cause the women who owned it before me had kids that tore it out. I hated that car, it was always breaking down.
ReplyDeleteHelen, Never seems to be a happy medium does there? Or Mr. Right. I've given up. I can't seem to find an educated, well mannered, even tempered, soft spoken, rich man who likes kids (even adult kids) but does *not* want more children. I really don't care if he's been married before or not. Not asking too much am I?
ReplyDeleteA few years ago I tried to brush up on my French. I also took American Sign Language classes a few years ago. Without speaking either on a daily basis I fear it's lost to me. Now, if I'd taken Spanish in school I'd have plenty of opportunity to practice daily as it's estimated a good 1/4 to 1/3 of the local population use Spanish as their first language.
Good luck with learning Welsh. Hugs!!
Di, mine was a beige one. It ran well, considering we bought it used when it was about 15 years old. The only complaint I had with it was that the radio would go through a lot of fuses. Just the radio, nothing else. The worse car I ever owned was an AMC Hornet. There was a hornet's nest in the door, it had engine issues and the cover was off of the steering wheel - causing you to get a shock when you touched it. Heaven help I needed to sound the horn, I'd about electrocute myself. I wasn't sad the day that car died! Ah, those were the days!! When we were grateful to have wheels at all. Now ... well, Alien has a Grand Am in better shape than my Grand Am is. No school of hard knocks here ...
ReplyDeletehaha--i hear ya on the heat, and one of my beefs about the trip i just took is all we ate was stuff like mcdonalds and denny's, that we have all the time here! and i'm the same on bugs....
ReplyDeletealways played with bugs as a kid.
ReplyDelete#1 Me too with a vengenance but I WILL turn the a/c on I will cut back other places if I think the bill will be high.
ReplyDelete#3 The Bahamas would be so cool... what a shame they have Mcdonalds there!!
#5 Me too and am a little shy still in company on line is diff LOL
#8 Omg me too I know only this.. j'mapelle Helen (I think that means my name is helen) I remember some of the alphabet tooo LOL.
Thanks for playing along with this =) Hugs!!
Helen, all we have are two of those window a/c units, no central air here. Those things are electricity hogs!! And those are in the two other bedrooms, not my bedroom! I look at it this way, if I can survive the heat without it, the youngsters sure as hell can!! OR they can pay the electric bill for the months they use a/c.
ReplyDeleteYup, the Golden Arches are everywhere!! Same with S'barro. At the time we went to the Bahamas, there was a S'barro (pizza place) right down the street from me. Why the hell would I want to go all the way to the Bahamas and eat food I could have at home? And that's all HE wanted. Familiar stuff. Didn't want to taste the local cuisine. I didn't even get to try conch until the last day we were there and that was only because the hotel had a free buffet breakfast!
Bonjour, Helen! J'mapelle Lisa. Good memory, Helen!! That's exactly what it means ... "I call myself" ... how I remember that I don't know! LOL!
You're welcome. It was fun. Haven't done a tag in a while ...
